Shop Supervisor

Responsibilities

* Supervise production activities to ensure that processed products meet or exceed all established quality requirements, including product integrity and production order documentation.
¿ Directs all related personnel actions, including final selection, training, performance appraisals, discipline, job assignments, approving daily labor records in unionized environments, and the first step in the grievance procedure.
¿ Establishes short-term activities, including scheduling, material availability, preventative inspections, budget, etc.
¿ Implements departmental safety programs to ensure the safety of employees working in the area.
¿ Accountable for work quality. Assists subordinates in problem solving and exercises considerable judgment in establishing priorities
¿ Coordinates and integrates with other plant function areas to ensure support.
¿ Formulates plans to improve efficiency of job function and recommends improvements in equipment or methods.
¿ Communicates and enforces Company policies and/or the union contract.
¿ Directly supervises employees in production and service departments. * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including performing shipping and receiving export/import paperwork in compliance with regulations. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Bachelor¿s Degree in an Engineering related discipline or Business Administration and at least 3 years of supervisory experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment in lieu of a degree at least 8 years of supervisory experience is required in a fast paced unionized manufacturing environment.

This position requires excellent communication skills (written and verbal), attention to detail, processes, problem solving ability and teamwork development.
¿ This position will require the individual to be able to work all shifts (days, afternoons, and midnights) and support the business on off shifts as need including weekends and holidays as required
¿ Knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools would be strongly preferred
¿ Positive values including ethical behavior, customer-focused improvement, accountability & teamwork and openness & trust
¿ Successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR requirements including U.S. citizenship or equivalent
