This position develops cost estimates and financial analysis for development, spare part and production quotes to aid management in business decisions that support contract negotiations. Minimum of 3 years experience in manufacturing financial analysis, cost accounting, or cost estimating. Assist our customers by providing accurate cost estimating information for all proposal fact finds.
This position will create cost proposals in response to customer inquiries and accumulate supporting data for each proposal in accordance with the customer requirements. Applicant will work with bills-of-material, purchase order data, supplier quotes, manufacturing routings and overhead rates to create the cost proposal. Reconcile current year financial results to proposed out year results. Ability to perform investment return analysis. Accurately document the assumptions that the cost estimate is based on.
Will be able to work independently, determining daily priorities and problem solve by oneself. Applicant will be able to complete a large volume of proposals with accuracy and timeliness.
Create the financial return analysis, termination and liability analysis and expenditure analysis. Applicant will prepare a written proposal summary documenting the proposal assumptions and the potential risks and benefits of the proposal.
Coordinate cross-functionally with other global sites to accumulate and analyze data from other departments such as Design and Mfg. Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Contract Administration, and from UTAS vendor base.
Conduct a "make vs. buy" analysis by gathering internal manufacturing costs and comparing those costs to supplier quotes. Also conduct "make vs. buy" analysis by comparing internal manufacturing costs of internal sites.
Apply escalation to material costs to mitigate contract risk.
Provide accurate margin analysis for Program Management in support of customer negotiations.
Support fact-finding inquiries as required by the customer or government auditors.
Complete pricing for spare part catalogs.
Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop and implement ideas to improve the efficiency of the cost estimating process.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - May provide estimating process training to new cost estimators.
This is the second step in a three-step progression for the holder of a degree in finance, accounting, or engineering with three to five years of related experience and/or training.
