Engineer Technical Writer

In 2012, UTC Aerospace Systems was formed by combining two industry leaders, Hamilton Sundstrand and Goodrich, creating an organization with key positions on a wide range of aircraft flying today and substantial content on various UAVs, satellites and ground and naval vehicles.

Responsibilities

Create new Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM¿s), Service Letters, Service Bulletins, and Temporary Revisions in compliance with Spec ATA 2000, S1000D, or other document requirements to support Goodrich Aircraft wheels, brakes, and brake control systems. Revise and update CMM¿s on a regular basis to incorporate Service Letters, Service Bulletins and Temporary Revisions, and engineering changes. Create and maintain other publications documents: Product Deviation Authorizations, Recommended Spare Parts Lists, T-Files, OEM data, and other specialized documents. Create and maintain illustrations to support documents listed above. Perform the above tasks at a high level across all product lines without assistance. Edit manuals written by other authors within the department, Joint Venture partners and outsource provider. Must be able to work closely with Engineering and understand drawing requirements. Maintain indexes for multiple document types. Follow standard job instructions and achieve on-time delivery requirements. Assist in development and implemention department standards ¿ Forms, templates, writing/illustration guide. Participate in NPIT activity as team member and project lead for publications work.

Qualifications

Associates degree in Technical Writing or related field. Minimum 2 years related experience Associates degree in Technical Writing or related field. Efficient with Microsoft and Adobe software programs. Preferred Qualifications: 2 or more years of experience in technical writing and aircraft maintenance. Efficient working with Framemaker, and illustration software. Experience authoring in S1000D.
